Comment: Lotte Reiniger made nearly 70 silhouette animations, among which the pioneer feature-length animated film The Adventures of Prince Achmed, in 1926, with original symphonic score by Wolfgang Zeller. She worked with Pabst and Renoir, animated shorts for children and advertising films, performed with live shadow-puppet and gave reinterpretations of classic fairy tales. Reiniger and her husband Carl Koch tried to leave Germany in 1933 but were not able to obtain emigration visas, nevertheless they frequently visited and worked in England, France and other European countries.
