Comment: Although the circular letter of the “American Committee for the Defense of Leon Trotsky” is undated, we can evince from internal evidence that it was distributed at the end of 1936, because, as we know, in January 1937, Trotsky went to live in Mexico. This letter or, better, appeal is signed by Wheelwright, a poet and a friend of Muriel Rukeyser, and it was found among her manuscripts and correspondence.
