Comment: In the foreword that Benét wrote for Rukeyser’s first book, besides speaking of her art, he meant to point out and define the link that existed between the ideological attitude and the poetry of such a young writer, by saying: “Politically, she is a Left Winger and a revolutionary”. It is interesting to compare this statement with what Bryher will write in the post scriptum of her letter to Rukeyser, dated July 3rd, 1936 (see record [:53;53:] ). |
