Comment: Based on Eric Wallace's series of short stories, the film is about Sanders, the benevolent British administrator of Nigeria, and Bozambo, the young and brave native chief who helps him to fight the enemies of British rule. Shot on location in East Africa with real natives as extras (the future leader of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, had a bit part), it starred Paul Robeson, Leslie Banks, Nina May McKinney. It was directed by Zoltan Korda, written by Lajos Biro, Jeffrey Dell, Arthur Wimperis and produced by Alexander Korda. See Nancy Cunard's review at 9725 |
