Comment: In 1916, Bourne introduces a new concept re. ethnicity and race which goes against the idea of the "melting pot". Trans-Nationalism becomes a concept that serves not only the interpretation of culture and of multiculturalism in the U.S. but represents also the ability of a "culture" and/or people to recognize within a community differences, without suppressing them through assimilationism or the integration and total acceptance of the dominant white anglo-saxon male protestant culture. |
